Preventative Care

Learning good oral hygiene at home and regular checkups

Keeping your kids’ teeth strong and healthy is as important to us as it is to you.

Preventive dental care is important throughout life, especially at a young age. By practicing good oral hygiene at home and scheduling regular checkups with the dentist, your child can help keep her smile bright and healthy for many years to come. Preventive treatment is the most effective way to acquire and maintain a healthy mouth and a happy smile. When you meet with our doctors, you’ll discuss the different aspects of preventative care from at-home care to routine visits at our office.

We also welcome Medicaid patients and accept all forms of insurance. If you need a dentist for your child, schedule your appointment today.

About Children’s Preventative Dentistry

Cavities are no fun… for anyone. So why not teach your children now to take every measure possible to prevent cavity-causing decay.

What is Preventative Care for Children?

Keeping your kids’ teeth strong and healthy is as important to us as it is to you. With that in mind, Salinas Pediatric Dental Center promotes prevention—both at home and in our office—as a priority! We do our best to prevent cavities and strengthen young teeth to set the stage for lifelong healthy smiles. Dr. Faraz will teach your children effective brushing and flossing and, when necessary, recommend preventive treatments, such as fluoride and dental sealants.

Cleanings

We recommend routine dental visits every 6 months. On that visit the patient will have the following:
• Oral evaluation
• Prophylaxis
• Fluoride Application
• Nutritional Counseling
• Head and Neck Cancer Screening
• Home Care Instruction
• Fighting Cavities

We offer two traditional treatments for preventing tooth decay. Dental sealants protect teeth (typically the back teeth) from bacteria that lead to decay. These sealants are made of a thin plastic material applied to the chewing surfaces of your child’s teeth to act as a barrier between the enamel and harmful plaque and food residue. Fluoride treatments help strengthen your children’s teeth, which incidentally helps prevent tooth decay. Most tap water actually contains fluoride, but the bottled water used in most family’s homes today does not.
